It All Starts Somewhere. When I was a kid, fan art was the only art I wanted to work on. All of my art teachers encouraged me to create original work but that was no fun.
I wanted to draw my favorite characters and surround myself with my favorite stories but now, as an middle aged adult it feels different, especially when you consider copyright.
The truth is, it’s a great way to connect with people who might not realize they have something in common. I might not know anything about you but if we like the same show, we can easily start a conversation and perhaps discover more about each other.
So now I see a reason to create fan art that I didn’t see before. Who knows, maybe I can work for one of these studios one day and create official versions. Anything is possible in this new world.
